Software:
Each link provides you with more information on the specific program.
- a web page for the program (if one exists)
- windows, linux, mac specific info
- longer description and very simple use guide
- Ganger
windows only, although you might be able to compile the source code on
linux
This software is a shape-matching program written originally by Brett
Allen. The basic idea is to take a template mesh and deform it to fit a
target mesh (the target is called the "scan" in ganger). The template
mesh has the triangle structure that you want, whereas the target mesh
has the shape you want, but it might be noisy or have missing parts
(e.g., a range scan). Hopefully the meshes are reasonably similar in
shape to start with.
- Scanalyze
windows, tried compiling linux version but didn't get any reasonable
results
Scanalyze
is an interactive computer graphics application for viewing, editing,
aligning, and merging range images to produce dense polygon meshes.
Software developed as part of Digital Michelangelo
Project.
Brian Curless is still involved with scanalyze and produces new and
improved versions from time to time -- his students are a good
resource.
- Vrip (plyxform)
windows, linux version installed by graphics group, should be already
accessible in your path
For now, the main use for the group is using the plyxform
command that allows us to use the *.xf file generated by scanalyze
(containing the transformation matrix) to generate a new *.ply file.
- VTK
windows, linux and mac
The
Visualization ToolKit (VTK) is an open source, freely available
software system for 3D computer graphics, image processing, and
visualization.
- meshlab
windows, linux and mac
MeshLab is an open source, portable, and extendible system for the
processing and editing of unstructured 3D triangular meshes. The system
is aimed to help the processing of the typical not-so-small
unstructured models arising in 3D scanning, providing a set of tools
for editing, cleaning, healing, inspecting, rendering and converting
this kind of meshes.
- A
listing of free medical imaging software
- CTAn,
CTVol, and DataViewer windows only?
software for 3D visualization
CTAn:
loads the whole CT scan volume in BMP/JPEG/TIFF format and is able to
extract regions of interest, histogram the values. CTAn can export the
3D object into CTVol.
CTVol: loads the segmented object in STL/3PG/CTM format, and
rotate/translate
DataViewer: loads the whole CT scan volume in BMP/JPEG/TIFF format and
you can add points to calculate distance
- DICOMWorks windows only?
DICOMWorks is a free DICOM Viewer utility software
- ImageJ windows, linux
and mac
ImageJ is a image processing and analysis tool in java
