Thanks for responding! The problem appears to be that the csh (and now tcsh) variants I have tried are not complete (e.g. one didn't understand "setenv"). I have attempted to use tcsh's from the following URLS without success:

ftp://ftp.astron.com/pub/tcsh/
Would you mind pointing me to the tcsh you successfully used? Also, is the Linux port more stable/recommended?
