Congnitive Dissonance

"If you're serious about increasing your strength, follow this six week training program and you'll soon be on your way to completing 100 consecutive push ups!" When you read this message, cognitive dissonance may arise when a person who believes that they can increase their strength by following this six weeks training program. Their desire to increase their strength may be conflicted with their notion that it may be impossible to increase their strength or it is not worth trying because he thinks six weeks is too long that he will give up after three days.

One hundred Push ups does a good job of manipulating the congnitive dissonance.

There is no doubt the number of pushups that people can do varies. The program starts with the initial test to test your fitness level and determine where to start and how to plan your push ups. Using the result, you can start the training program according to your level. After the intial test, you may feel negative by the number of pushups that you can do. So, some people might give up or challenge on this program. The dissonance is alieved as the number of pushups increases throughout the program.

The way to keep track of your work out is using the pushups logger and the table of road to one hundred pushups. By logging your workout and following the goal of each week honestly, then you will see an improvement. If you are managed to complete the pushups that you are supposed to do according to your level of fitness as the weeks go by, then you'll probably be suprised and encouraged at how much stronger you already are and will sail through the week and be fired up to reach the goal.

Suggestion: Pushups logger and the table lacks the encouragement to change their behavior to push themselves and get fired up to continue the program, because fitness avtivity depends on your perserverance. But, to do that so, having a notification whether you have met the weekly goal when you have entered in the pushups logger will be helpful. Then, the user will know and work harder if they haven't met the goal to complete the training program.

If you complete the challenge, then you can proudly display the badge on your website/blog. You'll be rewarded with a badge to show your success of fulfillment. The badge is a just a badge. However, the feeling of success after the completion of the six weeks challenge, will mean more than anything to change someone's desire behavior to complete the program.

Most fitness activities such as losing weight, busting out six-packs requires a one's motivation and desire to fulfill such challenge,because it takes a lot of hard work and time of working out and food management. Like these activities, it's a matter of your perserverance. However, having such programs and applications like One hundred Push ups definitely motivates your workout to increase your strength, because you just need to meet each weeks goal of number of pushups to be completed inorder to be successful after six weeks. Also, you won't be rewarded with prizes after completing the challenge, however, the feeling of success after hard work and effort to complete is definitely a positive reinforcement to change one's behavior to start working out.
