Subject: New project info - X-Bone

Hi,

This note is to announce a new DARPA project
commencing at ISI, which we hope will be of
wide interest to the network research community.

(it has been posted to CAIRN, and posted here to end2end-interest
to cover both communities; please pardon if you receive two copies).

--------------------------------------------------

The X-Bone

The X-Bone is a system for automating the
deployment and management of overlay networks.

It uses multicast control to manage a set of
participating hosts and routers. The initial
tool is planned for deployment in late Fall 1998.

Further information is available at:

http://www.isi.edu/x-bone/

--------------------------------------------------

We welcome feedback on the proposed design
and suggestions for enhancements.

Thanks,

Joe Touch
