I reinstalled the TeX package on Linux. /usr/contrib/texk/ is the
installation directory. I created symlinks to /usr/contrib/bin for
popular commands (latex, bibtex, xdvi, etc).

TeX has vastly improved while I've been distracted by GUI word
processors.
