Subject: [Fwd: Geological Sciences request for involvement in an ITR]

If we're looking for interesting target applications along the lines of UrbanSim
and one.world, this GeoSciences infrastructure might be another target, with
even more applied and outreach aspects (which help a ton in getting funding, and
might actually be fun).
Please glance through the technical part of the preproposal linked below, and
see what you think. I didn't see the Java word anywhere, so maybe they're
imagining something that is heavy-weight components linked by COM or even
vanilla RPC of some sort.
