WIA '99 CALL FOR PAPERS
1999 IEEE Workshop on Internet Applications
http://wia99.ibm.park.org/

San Jose, California
July 26-27, 1999

Sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on the
Internet (TCI)

SCOPE
-----
Networks and the applications that run over them affect each other. On the
one hand, network applications must take into account network performance,
transport protocol design, and higher-level protocol design. On the other
hand, emerging network technologies are being determined in part by the
kinds of applications we wish to run on them. The goal of this workshop
is to bring together application and network designers to exchange ideas
about the problems they are facing and the functions they are expecting
the others to provide.

We are interested both in papers that present well-developed research
results and papers that are more speculative in nature. The list of topics
of interest includes, but is not limited to, the network effects on
applications, and the application effects on networking, of the following:

- caching
- electronic commerce
- information retrieval & searching
- Internet telephony
- metacomputing
- mobile computing
- monitoring
- performance
- quality of service issues
- reliability and high availability
- security
- traffic measurement
- traffic models & statistics
- Web interfaces to databases
