The CAIDA folks have a new version of a visual traceroute that maps between
traceroute hops and physical location and then plots them. However, unlike
the previous versions of things like this that just use whois data (and so
MCI is always in virginia) the current version understands the router naming
schemas of many large ISPs and is easily extensible to support others.
Anyway, I thought this mapping procedure might be useful for a number of
projects.
